Product Disclosure

Syptime Pty Ltd · Last updated 10 August 2026 · Version 1.0

This is not a Product Disclosure Statement. A Product Disclosure Statement is a specific document required under Chapter 7 of the Corporations Act 2001 (Cth) for financial products. CapSeal is software. It is not a financial product, not insurance, and not a credit facility, and Syptime Pty Ltd does not hold an Australian Financial Services Licence. This page is a plain-English description of what the product does and does not do.

CapSeal is operated by Syptime Pty Ltd (ABN 34 640 186 296). This page exists because a verification product that overstates itself is worse than no product at all: it leads people to rely on it in precisely the cases where it should not be relied on. So here is the honest account.

1. What CapSeal is

CapSeal is proprietary, purpose-built technology owned by Syptime Pty Ltd. It was designed and written for a single question - whether a piece of captured evidence can be relied on - and is licensed to you rather than sold. It has two halves.

Verification is our engine for reading what a file discloses about its own origin, and for deciding what that disclosure is worth. It returns everything it found, plus a verdict, plus the reasoning that produced the verdict.

Capture is our mobile software, which measures integrity signals on a device at the moment a photograph is taken and binds them cryptographically into the file. The signals it measures, and the way they are weighed, are ours.

The two are separate products with very different strengths, and the difference is the single most important thing on this page.

2. What a verdict establishes

Every verdict carries a basis, which states how the answer was reached. This is not a confidence score. It is a description of the kind of evidence involved.

BasisWhat it meansSafe to automate?
provenCryptography settles it. A signature verifies and a hash binds the content.Yes
declaredThe file states something about itself, and a signature backs the file.Yes
claimedThe file states something, and nothing backs the claim. Unsigned metadata can be written by anyone. No
indicativeMetadata leans one way. A pattern, not a proof. No
unknownThe file does not say, and we will not guess. No

Build your process on the basis rather than on the verdict alone. A verdict of AI_GENERATED on a declared basis is a disclosure recorded in a signed manifest. The same verdict on a claimed basis is something anyone could have typed into a metadata field.

3. What CapSeal cannot tell you

If a file carries no provenance, nothing about how it was made can be established — by us or by anyone. A photograph stripped of metadata is a grid of pixels. It may be a genuine camera capture that a messaging app cleaned, an edit, or the output of a generative model, and the bytes do not distinguish those cases.

Specifically, CapSeal does not:

We state all of this plainly because the alternative — implying certainty we do not have — is how people end up declining honest claims and accepting fabricated ones.

4. Capture-time sealing

The limits above apply to files that arrive without provenance. Sealing at capture is how that changes: our mobile software measures signals on the device as the shutter fires — motion parallax against the inertial sensors, depth relief, screen-replay and display artefacts, virtual-camera detection, device attestation from Apple or Google — and binds them into the file.

That produces evidence on a proven footing rather than an unknown one. It is also the only part of the system that can make that difference, which is why we describe reading provenance as reactive and sealing as the actual remedy.

Capture-time signals are measurements taken on a device we do not control. They raise the cost of fabrication substantially; they do not make it impossible, and we do not claim they do.

5. Accuracy and error modes

Two error modes matter, and they are not symmetrical.

Saying something is fine when it is not

Possible where a file carries no provenance, where a manifest is present but the signature is not validated, or where an attacker fabricates metadata that our inspector reports faithfully as a claim. This is why claimed and indicative results are marked as not safe to automate.

Saying something is wrong when it is not

We work hard to avoid this, because the cost falls on an honest person. A stripped photograph is reported as unknown, never as suspicious. An old handset is reported as limited in what could be checked, never as untrustworthy.

New file formats, unusual encoders and malformed files may produce incomplete results. Anything that failed to parse appears in the warnings field of every response rather than being silently dropped.

6. Using CapSeal in decisions about people

A CapSeal verdict is information for a decision. It is not a decision.

If you use CapSeal in a process affecting someone's rights, entitlements, claim or livelihood, you should:

CapSeal output is not legal advice, not a forensic examination, and not expert evidence. If you need evidence for a court or tribunal, engage a qualified forensic examiner.

You remain responsible for your own compliance obligations, including under the Privacy Act 1988 (Cth), anti-discrimination law, and any regulatory code that applies to your industry — including, for general insurers, the General Insurance Code of Practice.

7. Availability and change

The service is delivered over the internet and may be unavailable from time to time. Design your integration so that an unreachable verification routes to human review rather than blocking or failing.

We improve detection over time. A file assessed today may produce a different, better-informed result later. Where a change would alter results materially, we will note it in the version history of the signal catalogue, which is identified in every response.

8. Your data

Files submitted for verification are not stored. They are read in memory and discarded when the response is sent. See the Privacy Policy.
