Field work

A construction program, at progress billing

Reused photographs supporting milestone claims. What changes when field evidence is sealed on site before it leaves the phone.

This is an illustrative scenario, not a customer. CapSeal is pre-launch. Every figure below is modelled from published industry data and stated assumptions, which are set out in full further down so you can disagree with them. We will replace these with named, measured references when we have them, and not before.

The situation

Where the organisation starts

Modelled outcome

What the model produces

$2.7M
modelled annual over-billing addressed
-52%
modelled disputed progress claims
9 days
median reduction in claim certification time
0.8%
of submitted evidence found to be reused

The assumptions behind those numbers

  • $340M in annual subcontractor progress claims across 40 sites.
  • Over-billing on progress claims at 0.8% of certified value, the low end of published construction payment dispute research.
  • Reuse rate measured by duplicate detection on sealed capture identity, which only becomes measurable once sealing is in place.
  • Certification time reduction assumes the quantity surveyor accepts sealed evidence in place of a site visit for routine milestones, not for major ones.
  • Subcontractor adoption at 80%, driven by making sealed evidence a condition of faster payment rather than a mandate.
What changes

How the process differs

Evidence is sealed before it leaves site

The subcontractor captures through the app. Time, location coherence and capture integrity are measured on the device and bound into the file.

Certification runs on evidence, not trust

The quantity surveyor verifies sealed captures independently, offline if they prefer, without relying on the contractor or on us.

Reuse surfaces at submission

A photograph already submitted against another milestone is detected when the second claim is made, not during an audit a year later.

Faster payment is the incentive

Sealed claims certify faster. Subcontractors adopt it because it gets them paid sooner, which is a better lever than a contract clause.

Honest limits

What this model does not claim

A model is an argument, not evidence. These figures show what follows if the assumptions hold for your organisation, and the point of publishing them in full is so you can check whether they do.

Sealing evidence at capture does not detect every fabrication, does not establish that a truthful-looking document is true, and does not determine intent. The Product Disclosure sets out the boundary precisely.

Model it against one project.
